I don't have any wiring diagrams to show which pins to use for the connections. I don't have a set of manuals for all the Harley's. I can look on the Service Manual for an RK as I have that one if it will help.
Someone on the Forum here has done it before.
The Deutsch Connector body type (DT, DTM, etc.) dictates the pin sizes (16 & 20 respectively). The pins need to be "crimped" and you can use one of the inexpensive tools off e-bay for the solid pins, or you can "crimp" the stamped pins (very carefully) with pliers ( I have done both).
If you look at the mating connector on the Bike , it will have the body type on it.
So I really got to test my fans today. I was stuck in almost dead stop traffic for 45 minutes in 80+ degree weather tonight on my way home from work. Usually I have to keep shutting off my engine or go into eitms mode within the first five minutes. I installed my fans and thermostat last weekend and I was able to keep my motor running the whole time. I still had good oil pressure and it wasn't unbearable to sit on the bike.
Thank you Jason for doing the research and coming up with this solution that moco hasn't really even tried to rectify (except if you can call the ugly parade fan an attempt). I will probably be needing more of your cards to pass out as I keep showing off the fans and have gotten at least one person to buy. Look forward to the thermal switch app when it becomes available.
PS do you have a list to get on for those?
icufltrn,
I'm glad you are happy with the performance. I will post here when the switches come in, should be here by the end of Aug. No more waiting list, just make a deposit, and the reservations will be filled in the order recieved.
fathog,
The switch is pretty small, it mounts between the head fins just below the OEM temp sensor location, its a simple "contact" thermal switch. I'll post some pics.
I've asked this question before but never got a response from anyone who installed the fans on their bikes and who also have the HD Cylinder Head Bridge Covers on them. If so, do the fans still do their intended job?
Went to pick the bike up from the dealer after some warranty work. I had a hard time leaving the place. Virtually every tech and manager were out staring, touching and asking questions about the FCS. The general consensus was "damn those put out a lot of air and look good". They didn't believe it when I told them that on the highway at 75mph I might run mid 270* in the cyl head; but when I hit the city traffic and stop lights, the temp drops to the 250s! Great product and would definatly be a big seller at any dealer. I bet I could've sold mine for a profit,,,,,,,not a chance - I like it that much.
