Default Lowering Kits

Thinking about lowering my 2011 flhtc, concerned about handling with and without passenger, any thoughts.

I would suggest you get the 09+ street glide rear shocks, take offs can be found for less than $150, or new ( in the US...) fr about $230.
The 09+ version has "improved valving". part number 54662-09, and you'd need 2.

( the option is out there to spend much more on shocks)

That's what I use on my 09 FLHTC--- in town.
The ride is stiffer as you have decreased the shock travel by 30%-- but managable. solo ( 215) and with no tour pak weight, I run 7 pounds pressure

When touring I swap back to stock height for comfort- swap over takes 15 to 20 minutes including getting coffee

some guys use lowering blocks which are even less expensive, they retain the same shock travel, but change the shock angle which some riders don't like- check ebay

for my 2008 FLHRC i bought 12" take off air shocks on ebay for $44.50 + $15 shipping . There is a whole thread on changing the oil in the air shocks to make the ride better.i am going to give it a try .

heres what you need for a lowering kit .... its the very best one available...It is made by LA Choppers ...it is all steel ,it does not change your shock angle....does not change your ride quality....and only takes a few minutes to install....I am not a dealer or anything but i do have a kit that is brand new ,unopened in the package...there is a video on youtube showing just how easy the installation is ....I have used this setup on 2 of my Electraglides and they are great .I would let go for $75.00 , lemme know if you are interested

Fits: 2002-11 FLHT, FLHR, and FLTR Models (Except FLHRS, FLHRC)

I tried those from LA Choppers and the hard bags wouldn't go back on so be forewarned.

because you didn't use the bag spacers and longer bolts supplied in the kit to extend your bag outerward

i went with the tamarack lowering kit, and can still have the 13 inch shock, which to me rode a lot better then the 12 inch shock with no lowering kit. beings I'm a short guy 5"8".

I'm sending you a PM with questions on that kit so I don't hijack the thread.

I had the white brothers lowering kit on my FLHRC, Strong, the hard leather bags went on but the shocks were at a different angle and they rubed against the bag a little. When I did the custom Bad dad fender and hard bags I went to the lower shocks. Much better ride when riding 2 up and a loaded t bag, glad I switched.
