Also, I replaced the cam cover screws with polished S.S screws (bought a kit with all cover screws including primary, starter, transmission...). REally looked good when it was done.
The bike has a whole new "bark" when I get on it. It absolutely pulls better than it ever has. I I can't wait to get her out on a sunny day and really zip around a bit - like a different bike. Here is what the final and accurate cost breakdown came out to be:
- Cam change kit, spacers, etc off eBay = $120
- George's Garage inner bearings = $15
- SE Cam plate/oil pump, lifters, SE211 = $870
- Indy install (including oil, misc stuff) = $310
- Chrome Cash ($625)
- Sale of old Ham radio I wasn't using ($350)
Total out of pocket for the whole project = $340
Having the peace of mind that the whole cam chest has been rebuilt, hydraulic tensioner, good bearings, high-flow oil pump is priceless. The extra "zip" I'm feeling out of the cam, and the great sound are just icing on the cake.
Thanks everyone for the great advice, as always!
