I believe they did finally come out with a titanium faced oil temp gauge.
Titanium Face Gauges

Add a rich, custom look to your dash. First featured on the '10 FLHTK Ultra Limited™ model, these black and icy cool "titanium" numbered gauges feature white LED backlighting and large, easy-to-read numbers for at-a-glance viewing. Gauges are plug-in ready, and require no additional splicing or re-wiring for installation. Mileage reinstatement is available through your Dealer.
70900176

IN-STORE PURCHASE ONLY Contact dealer for pricing and availability.

Oil Temperature - Fahrenheit

Fits '08-later Touring (except Road KingŽ) and Trike models.

check the parts catalog or parts list on the HD site. Available in a couple different gage faces.

Default Limited Oil Temp. Gauge

I recently purchased one from Zanotti's for $110 + shipping. Looks and works good. Easy install. A lot easier than my '07 Ultra was. The new one uses the wiring from the air temp gauge. No need to remove the tank and run a power line. BTW, the part number is 70900176.

Does anyone know where the temperature sensor is located? I had the oil temp gauge installed on my 2007 Ultra, and the sensor was in the oil line between the filter and the oil cooler. Bad location. It only read semi-accurately when the thermostat was open, and was susceptible to cooling air since it was in the air stream.

A better location would be the Oil pan or even just display the information from the cylinder head temperature sensor, since it's there anyway.

New ones have a plug with an allen bolt in the oil pan. I had just changed my oil when the titanium gage came out, and didn't want to drain it. I preped the sensor and while my oil was cold I pulled the plug and screwed in the new sensor. I lost about 1 oz. of oil. Just gotta be quick.

Interestingly, the TC96 oil pan has the same tap. The older kit didn't use it however.
