bought my 2000 UC in june of 2010. first of this year, it seemed to be starting a little slower so i pulled the battery out. it was made in 2001......bought one from Batterymart, 90 shipped--EX30L...the old one ( ORG HD) is still setting on my work bench holding 12.6 volts.....keep it around for a spare.
Stopped to help a rider stopped on the side of the road back a few weeks ago. His UC had died going down the road and appeared to me to be a bad VR or Stator but he said they had to jump it off early. I went to a small town about 15 miles away where they had an O'Reilly's. They had the same battery as mine,,,,,135.00.....but when your stranded...what you gonna do. Got him started and on the road again, but I don't know if he made it home before it died again....
Has anyone tried the AGM battery available from Ace Hardware? I'm talking about item #8292138, 30 amp 12 volt with 385 cold cranking amps and retails for $129.99. If anyone has tried it, I'd be interested on your opinion about this battery.
7 years with the OEM here too. Was still crankin when I changed it out. Just figured I was pushin my luck. That record is hard to beat. Went with the same.
