Default motor swap question

Would it be possible to put my 103 from my 07 flhx into an older bike with a tc 88"? I am planning on buying another bike at some point and am just exploring my options. I could see sometime down the road getting a 120r for my sg. If I did that would my take out fit in say a dyna or softail with a stock tc 88? I may be dreaming here, but if I can swing it within a year or 2 I will. I plan to have another bike sometime this year. Thanks

A rubber mount will fit in a rubber mount bike, remember that the counter balanced motors in the softail have different engine cases.......

Louie is right about the no go for a softail, but partially right about the rubber mount thing... The primary will be an issue and I'm not certain if the 5 and 6 speed transmissions mount up to the engine the same. You will have to do some work to the primary as the output shaft is different on the '07-up bikes vs the pre-'07. For example, the compensator has a bolt on the '07 and a nut on the pre '07 even if the spline count is the same. Also, the primary chain rides behind the starter ring gear on the pre-'07 and it rides in front of the ring gear on the '07.

A late model TC engine will not bolt into an early dyna or softail. I am not up to speed on the late touring model front and top motor mounting; I believe the change was in the '08 model year. So, if it is the same as the early models, and I think it is, I believe the '07 would fit into an early model frame but you would have to make modifications to the primary side to complete the installation.

You would be better off with an early model TC88 and upgrade it to 95" and selling your 103 to offset the cost of the 120R.
