I traded my 2010 for a 2012 this fall. Got a great deal. My payments stayed the same and I got a new bike out of the deal. The drop in the interest rate made a heck of a difference.

I would do it. Take the $3000 loss. The painted tins will cost you that much, but this route you have a brand new 2012 bike!

Unless you have heavy mods or accessories.

Just curious..
Why? you really enjoy your bike so you;re trading it in.......I'm living in a world I no longer understand.

Here's an idea. Ride the F***ing bike you have. If you want to change the color - paint it.

Obvious you have the money to do it, so do what you want.

Well I had pretty much the same issue last weekend. I had a 2010 Road Glide Custom that I bought in Aug 09. I walked into the dealer not planning on buying a new bike and made a joke with the owner that if he really wanted to make my Christmas he would sell me a Road Glide Ultra for dirt cheap. Well he turns around and tells me if color isn't an issue he can maybe work something out. There is on 2011 Road Glide Ultra left on his showroom floor. He sold it to me for his cost ($19,900.00) and gave me $15,000 for mine. I know KBB is $1,000 more but I felt that was a pretty good trade in price.

So I say if you want the new bike, the figures work out and you feel good about the deal then GO FOR IT!!!

Earlier this year I purchased a 2011 Ultra Root Beer (with the 96). Thought I'd be happy until I stopped by the dealer and saw a 2012 Ultra Limited in the blue/black color you mentioned. Couldn't get it out of my mind so I talked to a few dealers about trading mine and getting the new one. Most dealers weren't playing ball (wanted MSRP for the 2012) so I was about to give up.

At the last minute I reached out to one more dealer who not only dicsounted the new limited to $23,000 but also gave me what I wanted for my trade (I sold it for $1,500 less than what I bought it for).

The rest is history. I say make sure you find a dealer who wants your business and see if you can put it together.
