There are several of us looking for a CT for our Dyna's so if anyone finds a 160/70-17 please let us know. I ran a 145/90-15 on my rigid Shovel and absolutely loved it.
Go to mcdarksiders.forumotion.com/t1500-opinions-on-these-3-car-tires-for-a-2008-fxdl There is a guy on the HD section that found a run flat Dunlop that will fit. I looked for it on Tirerack, but it didn't come up. Good luck!

Thanks, but those tires are all very low profile and would not suit my needs.

There have been several people who have put 205s on their bikes with about 1/4" to spare. I'm thinking my next tire will be a good year assurance triple tread ( I have those on my car), but a 205 is the smallest they make which I'm hoping will be fine.
I'm glad someone actually posted the belt clearance they have on an sp5000. I hadn't seen anything on the successful installation of a 205/60/16 so I'm glad to know that also as there are some nice tires in that size. Do you know of anyone using the 195/60/16 Michelin? Just wondring how it handles.

I've been following this thread and the other one, "went to the dark side" with interest. They have been interesting. I, like many others, did not think a car tire belongs on a bike, mostly because of the "hinge effect".
In my many years of riding, it's hard to change my mind about certain things involving motorcycling.
Reading all of the pro's and cons, I think I've come close to the conclusion that maybe, and I said maybe, tire technology has outrun my old-assed way of thinking.
I went outside and looked at the tires on the little hotrod Sky and it has tread around the sidewalls as high as my 'Glide. Weight ratio to patch on the ground still has to be calculated, but I'm going to look into it. As hard as I have run it through the curves around here has to be figured into the side load.
I know I'm probably going to get flamed, but this is interesting.
I know that my friends who run car drag slicks on their dragbikes have a lot of different driving characteristics than those who run the MT's or GoodYear Eagles that I use that made for bikes. I know, I know, two different situations. Keep the debate coming.

I went the Bridgestone Terranza 195-65-16, the 205 sries are best suitted for the wingers. I have no belt clearance probs at all. This is 14,000 miles so for and counting.

In addition to Darkside forums please check out the GoldWing forums. GoldWing riders have been running car tires on their machines for a long time. They like being able to eat up miles of flat straight superslab on their ironbutt coast to coast jaunts and not worry about havig to stop and have a rear tire installed. You will find a wealth of knowledge about running car tires on motorcycles over on the GoldWing sites.

I have been running a 205 55 16 for a couple of months now. It's a Goodyear Eagle.
I've got over 6K on the tire and like it more every dqy.

I had a teeny bopper pull out of a driveway without ever looking to her right. I was close enough to her that there is no doubt in my mind she never looked my way. I had to stand up on my brakes and never once did the ABS kick in. The tire sticks enough that ABS is totally usless. It never engages.

The tire pressure is critical. I was running 36PSI and it was throwing me all over the place. Went down to 30 PSI and all is well. The ride is so much smoother at 30PSI too. That's just a freebie.
