My new FLTRU is difficult to shift through the gears without a lot of loud clunks. When starting out cold it isn't so bad after the initial clunk going into 1st gear. After the bike has heated up it's very difficult to shift gears with out clanging and clunking. Has anyone with this problem found a remedy? I thought maybe a different lubricant in the primary case might help. Help please.
If you are new to HDs the tranny will feel somewhat clunky and difficult to shift.
You need to be somewhat aggressive when shifting compared to other makes.
Try switching to a synthetic gear lube in the transmission.
You also mentioned clutch drag. Check the free play at the lever, the cable may need adjusting which is very common as new cables stretch a bit.
