So here's the deal. I have an opportunity to trade my 08 RG with 25K miles in on an 11 CVO RG Ultra with 17K miles without getting beat up too badly on my trade. I am in awe when I look at all the details of this bike as well as all the creature comforts! It's just plain loaded with everything I already have and things I never dreamed of...and I like the color too! Best part is I can own it outright but it'll sure put a big dent in my savings! Am I nuts??? Or would you be thinking about it too???
Sure why not. If that is what you want, and it sounds like it is, then do it. You don't have to go into debt or anything. Do you have a Mrs you might **** off or any other debts? If I were debt free and had the money I would buy something I really wanted.
Well the first problem you have is asking a bunch of HD nutz with nothing invested in your decision for an opinion.... or was it advice?
OK, here's both.
Opinion- do it, you only live once and you already know what it's like living hand to mouth... what's to lose? (OK, that was from my conscience talking to me -- ignore all that).
Advice- save more and wait longer. The dealers are going to get hungrier as the political climate creates more upheaval. (OK, that was from the other side of my brain chastizing me for the last purchase that, incidentally, was a deal I could not walk away from and should have, BUT am soooo glad I didn't).
Now figure all that out..... and good luck with your decision.
Like 2black1s says, if your bank account can stand the hit and that's what you really want, then do it. Your '08 is never going to be worth more. I know what you're going through because a couple of months ago I traded my '10 Street Glide with 17,000 miles on it for a new leftover 2011 Electra Glide Classic. I was looking for a Classic or Ultra Classic and happened upon the Classic. I traded my hotrod bagger for for a geezer glide, but that's the bike that fits me now since the wife is riding with me more. So buy that beauty and ride it hard.
Traded my 09 SG in on a 11 CVO SG when the owner of the shop made me an offer I really couldn't pass on. Put me a little farther in debt but still can't erase the smile on my face. The only strange part is not having a huge list of things I want to do to change my ride. Outside of the Fullsac CVO stage II I am prertty much leaving it alone.
I traded my '08 RoadGlide in on a new '11 CVO RoadGlide and I DID take a big hit to the wallet. I'd do it again in a minute. As you've already noticed, the creature comforts on the CVO make it all worthwhile.
Just do it.
