So...I'm looking at new heated grips (HD 56512-08A) and it says they are not compatible with internally wired handlebars.
Stupid question...are my handlebars internally wired....I can't for the life of me remember....bike is in storage and I don't have access to it.

I think so, but a friend of mine said they were a waste of money. He said the heated gloves are MUCH better than the grips.
I have heated grips and I don't like them. They burn the **** out of my palm and my fingers are still cold. Plus, it sucks putting them on so now I'm gonna pay the dealer $100 to take them off.
Stock, the TBW is internally wired in the handlebar, however, the remaining controls (horn, brake switch, turn signals, etc) are external.
Have to agree with others...the heated gloves are the way to go, as I have a pair....friends have heated grips and they complain about them...but that's their opinion.
The heated grips will work on your bike. I am having a set put on the wife's 2012 trike right now, and I have them on my 2012 Limited. In our area the dealer puts them on all of the cop bikes before they are delivered.
I like them a lot. They warm the palm of the hand, and the glove leather causes the warmth to radiate all around the hand. We have ridden in 25 to 35* weather on a lot of occasions and the only time my hands haven't been cold is since I got the heated grips.
A buddy of mine has the heated grips. He rode home after Christmas dinner, it was 34 F, and he forgot he had heated grips. By the time he got home, 30 minutes, his hands were freezing. He had to run warm water over them to defrost. So, if you forget you have them, they will do you no good.
