Default Well now I've done it

I ordered myself a new bike to replace the totaled FLHTK.

And it's about as un-Harley as you can get, I ordered a 2011 BMW R1200RT, and I'll pick it up at the end of January when I'm able to ride again. I had a blast riding an R1200GS Adventure over the summer; the RT rides similarly but with far better wind and weather management from the fairing. I really considered one of the Touring CVO bikes, but couldn't get past the outrageous purchase cost, then the additional expense to change bars, seats, and windshields.

And you know, I got tired of slinging around a 900-pound bike.

The Beemer's boxer twin has a similar sense of "soul" as Harley's V-Twin, and the whole bike has got a sense of character that seems like it'll mesh well with my riding style.

At any rate, I'll probably be scarce in here, but I'll still lurk around in the Softail forum. Thank you all for the technical help, the conversations, the laughs, and the outpouring of positive thoughts after my wreck last month.

I hope to see y'all out on the road, look for the BMW with the rubber chicken tied to it.

Vey nice looking bike. I too was looking at the New BMW 6 cyclnder model. I forgot what they called it, but that bike was as expense as a CVO.

Hope you heal quickly and injoy your new ride!

Those bikes are nice. Had an 1200 gs adv for a couple years.
But no doubt you will spend plenty on mods. Seat for starters.
Glad your looking forward to riding again and that's a fine mount..
Enjoy

I have owned 3 oilheads and have spent saddle time on the R1200RT they handle very well and go pretty dang good for an air/oil cooled twin. My next beemer will be the K1600.

Nice ride and with that you should also continue to check into the Touring forum. Let us know what you think about it. I have been considering adding a Beemer or Duc. Leaning more towards the Ducati. Just a glutton for punishment I guess.

I rode the K1600GTL last July. It's a beast, but I really felt the weight of it on slow corners. It is an amazing bike though.
