NJSHORE, do you know if they had to take off the console to fix it? I wouldn't mind just ordering the part and putting it on myself, since I live 80 miles from the nearest dealer. Thanks!
Twillis, not sure. I was at the dealership (HD of Long Branch - good dealer) buying the boss something for Xmas and Tony did it pretty quickly. That is a good question for Dawg. I do know if it is warranty, they would have to do it, but as Dawg said, it is a cheap part.
Not to misdirect the thread... but sorta related. The spring loaded end cap for the passenger's communications port busted off a month or so ago. Not even sure when it happened. My wife went to plug in and it was gone.
I'm planning on an argument from the dealer on this one, lol.
Thanks scottdoege, I found the retaining ring you were talking about and a quick spin with a screwdriver and it screws out. It's a little tricky getting the intercom plug back through the hole in the console, so I ended up lifting the console to hold it. No big deal, 2 bolts once you get the seat off. The plastic hinge on the inside ring was actually about ready to break, so I just need the new flap and I'll be in business. Now I need to figure out what the part number is, since it would be easier just to order the part since I'm 80 miles from a dealer. Thanks to all that chimed in here.
One note about that flap door. On my last trip, the silver ring nut backed off and the plug fell into the console. I managed to save the flap door since I was plugged in at the time. Pulled the console off, reattached it, only to have it come loose again twice more. Stopped at a N AL dealer on the way back and they replaced it under warranty along with doing the brake recall. I did give the ring a little extra snug and so far, so good.

OK, my flap door spring was broken on my 2010 Ultra when I bought it and I replaced it myself. When you unscrew the silver ring that holds the flap door the plug will drop inside the console. I removed the gas cap door (2 nuts holding it) and reached in with my fingers and pushed the plug back in the hole and screwed down the silver ring that holds the flap door. So you don't have to remove the console.
Your dealer will know what you need. Apparently this happens often.
