IF I SPEND $1200 ON KIT (PN 29905-07) I GET THE CAMS, TWO CATALYST MUFFLERS AND A WARRANTY FRIENDLY INSTALLATION.
IF I SPEND $900 ON KIT (PN 29893-07) I GET THE CAMS, NO MUFFLERS (YEAH!) BUT A UNFRIENDLY WARRANTY (IE NONE)
IF I SPEND $690 ON KIT (PN 29903-07) I GET NO CAMS, NO MUFFLERS AND A WARRANTY FRIENDLY INSTALLATION.
IF I DO THE $690 KIT AND PUT IN THE SE 255 CAMS SEPARATELY, THEN THE CAMS ARE NOT WARRANTIED.
THE ABOVE ASSUMES I WILL BE GOING WITH A SERT AND V&H OVALS.
I NEED THE TWO ADDITIONAL MUFFLERS LIKE A HOLE IN THE HEAD ( I WILL HAVE FOUR AT THIS JUNCTURE) BUT THE MOCO HAS PUT ME IN A CATCH 22. UNLESS I PUT UP ANOTHER $300 THEY HAVE ME BY THE SHORT & CURLIES. AS GENERAL WESTMORELAND SAID, IF YOU HAVE THEM BY THE ***** THEN THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS WILL FOLLOW.
IT SEEMS POINTLESS TO GO JUST 103" AND NO CAMS - RIGHT?
AM I BETTER OFF BITING THE BULLET, PAYING THE $300 EXTORTION AND SLEEPING BETTER AT NITES? I PLAN TO GO WITH AT LEAST A 5 YEAR EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN.
Never bought an extended warranty in my life and never will, then again I don't like riding a stock HD, I do most all of my own work so it's never been a big issue.
Find a good indy shop & get YOUR jugs bored, YOUR heads ported, proper exhaust system of YOUR choice, PCIII, GEAR drive cams, K&N air kit...don't waste money on an extended warranty & enjoy your bike!
Its your call but may also depend on your dealer,or try different dealer. The complete kit isnt that appealing if you have real performance in mind.Plus extending warranty basicly leaves you w/the first option and the third. The slipons shouldnt be a big snag either way.And a dealer may turn a blind eye on cams as long as they are hd units.Ask dealer first or dealers.
If you look at the performance gains in the "Screamin Eagle" section of the 2007 MOCO P&A catalog, page 536, the section should be renamed the "Squeakin Eagle." Torque drops like a stone on the 103 kit after 3,500 rpm and delivers a max of 75 hp. That's a joke for something that is supposed to be a performance package.
Unless you have the heads ported and polished, you really aren't doing anything to increase air flow through the motor, and none of the Squeakin Eagle kits mention head work.
You could get the same performance gain (at least in the seat of the pants test) with slip on mufflers, a good Power Commander tune, and high flow air cleaner.

Exhaust, heads, cam and tuning before any attention is given to cubes. It's already trying to breath thru a swizzle stick with the stock heads, trying to increase performance that increases its demand for air with bore or stroke doesn't make much bang for the buck.
