Default 30T drive pulley

Have read alot about this but not sure if an 09 Road King has a 31 or 32 tooth pulley stock. If it is 31T I know what to do , if it is a 32T do they sell a 31t? Has anyone here changed it on an 09 or newer?

you may find handy the get the doc 28_RatiosMPG-page28.pdf google it.

it's an andrews chart with gearing notes.

when changing gearing, you just need to be sure that if you change the "leverage" that the motor is capable of dealing with the change

my fxr has a 61T rear pulley from the stock 70T- a 15% overdrive.
my motor was built, cammed and tuned for torque the ensure that the low speed operation would be good.

you are looking at an underdrive- great in town and twisties, less so on the interstate

Ok I found out that mine has a 32t pulley, does anyone know if they make a 31t pulley that would fit my 09 Road King

From Baker:

30-tooth or 31-tooth h-dŽ 2006-up cruise drive™ pulleys

Get more oomph from a throttle-wick on your 2007 stock Harley-Davidson FL. Our 30-Tooth or 31-Tooth transmission pulleys effectively ‘gear down’ the bike to optimize the performance in two major ways.

First, you’ll get more torque and power from the take-off gears. This remedies the common criticism of the new bikes being a little sluggish off the line for some riders.

Second, you can utilize the 6th gear at a slower, more reasonable highway speed for a more comfortable RPM. These pulleys bring the cruising gears down a notch for finessing your ride.

Performance details are as follow:

Increase Rear Wheel Torque (30T- 7% Increase / 31T- 3% Increase)
Cruising RPM 6th gear (75MPH) 30T @ 2830 / 31T @ 2756
No more lugging the motor in 6th gear at lower cruising speeds (60-70 MPH)

Note: Will require the use of a 1 tooth shorter belt (For example: H-D p/n 40056-07 is for FL) 2 ź” special Pulley nut socket required for replacement available from Baker Drivetrain. p/n 94660-07BD

Thanks Dawg, I just found that site too. Now to figure out if I want 30t or 31t. From what I have read you don't need to change belt unless you go to 30t, but not positive. Also found an Andrews 31t it is priced at $130.99. Not sure of the price on the Baker 31t.

I think I will go with the 30t , now to find the socket and locking tool at a reasonable price. Anyone here want to sell theirs?

Yes, this thread is relevant to my interest. My 2011 Limited is lazy, and sixth is too tall even on the interstate. If I could drop down a tooth on the tranny sprocket and not change the belt, that would be a good start. Cams in addition to the stage 1 I already have would be even better.

My stock EG is geared 'spot-on' its power range for cruising with a passenger and cargo at 130 Km/h (in Europe). Mountain driving requires a 'tailored' extra 1,000 rpm to eradicate senior metric bikes without damaging the footboards and tailpipes. I don't think there is much to gain by changing only the drive pulley when the behavior of the engine is not adapted to the task.
