They are NOT full of crap! Harley big twins usually need a top end over haul at between 20 and 30 thousand miles. It's been that way forever, or at least until the Evo came out. Shovels, Pans, and Knucks all needed top ends at about that milage. Evos and Twinkies will usually go over 100,000 miles without removing the heads due to them having aluminum barrrels and superior cooling. Back in the day if you couldn't wrench you couldn't ride a Harley or any other motorcycle really.

2009 UC with 40,000. Compensator & Stater at 38k, Replaced radio twice (under warranty). That's it.

05 EGC,lots of problems.150,000 miles.Has left me in 2 states on vacation.Well taken care of.Cams gone bad,alternators,regulators,batteries(3 ea.)Cruise control,and radio.Bike is now gone and replaced with 09 road king,7k miles.

Back on subject 07 cop king with about 11k so far. That's pretty young in the HD world so nothing as of yet.

66,000 on my '99 Road King with the original first year Twin Cam. Cam bearings replaced under warantee, hydraulic tensioner upgrade my choice (tensioner pads did need replacing) and a starter. This carbed engine runs like a raped ape for an 88". Ask my frowning friends with their stage one 96"'s!
