The attached thread referred to in the above post answers a different question, does a true trac make a 2009+ handle any better? The question I have is does a true trac make a 2007 handle like a 2009+?
I waited to the 09 frame to upgrade from my 1995- until 2009 there were not enough advances to justify the expense of a newer bike.
The 09 frame is rigid and handles great, but then I rarely had concerns with the '95.
Most handling problems are due to incorrect service, from neck bearings to the guy who wanted to sue H-D 'cause he had 32 pounds in his front tire and his bike handled poorly.
Proper suspension set up, properly balanced bike ( saddlebag loading).
and being aware that the aerodynamics of the batwing fairing result in the front wheel unloading at high speed...if you are riding at 85 and hit a 40 mph gust, it'll be interesting. ( and catching a thermal updraft while leaned over in a canyon can also add pucker)
for reference look at the CHP vs Kawasaki suit from the 80's- fairing design & rear weight loading of the radio pack and other equipment caused the front to loose traction at speed, resulting in crashes.
It's getting easier to overdrive the inherent aerodynamics of these bikes.
IMO the 09 frame is awesome compared to what came before, the 1984 to 2008 frame is not horrible but outdated
I put a trw bagger brace on my 08 streetglide and Avon's it handled better than stock but I feel that my 12 streetglide handles much better than my 08 ever did.
