After thinking about my post it occurs to me that the position of the forward lever (attached to the shift levers) will effect the lenght of the rod, shift levers will have to be repositoned, may redo mine, explains why some are too long and others to short.
I considered doing that, but I didn't think there was much thread left on the linkage rod.

There is plenty of room left on the linkage rod. The forces involved are linear, not shear. But..... if you really think you need more, then I guess you can buy 1/4 inch longer linkage rods at ACE while you are there getting the nuts. But not necessary IMHO. The result would be an increase of about 1/8th inch or about 3 more threads on each end of the linkage rods.
Just remember that its a 5 / 16th x 24 thread.
PS, if you do decide to adjust your shift levers..... I'd say to forget trying to adjust the rear. Major PITA to get to IMHO.
I'm in, I ordered the chrome shift rod this afternoon. Funny thing - the guy on the phone from Demon said "Let me check and make sure we have some left, for some reason we have sold a bunch of these this week". We all know why...
Also asked about fasteners, he said all included. I asked if the rods are "flat sided" like in their pics, he said yes, but had heard of some "rounds" like others mentioned on here. Said he would look into it, perhaps different suppliers. Should see it in 3 or 4 days, may come by USPS or FedEx, as others have mentioned.
Man, what have we started? It is a great value...
Wow! After installing my new shift rod I can find neutral really easily! What a difference this little upgrade makes! I think because you do away with the stock shift rod that has the movable joint on each end makes shifting much more positive. I love this new mod!
As stated above mine was too long to. Had to take the lock nuts off each end and blue locktite it, will keep and eye on it.
Mine came in just a hair shorter. Since both ends are right hand threads you don't have to worry about the rod changing length without the lock nuts on it. The worst that would happen is the center section would rotate forward or back but the ends would stay the same. The Locktite should hold it in place with no problem. Now if one end was R/H threads and the other end L/H threads (like a turn buckle) then you might have an issue.

Hummm I replaced my connections with Heim joints and was commenting to a friend the last time I was ridding that 4k must be the breaking point cuz I'm not having a tough a time popping it into neutral as much. It didn't occur to me the joints I replaced awhile back may be the reason?
