Default Lower Back Support - Tour Pack

My wife constantly complains that she gets no lower back support. I have the chopped tour pack on an '09 Street Glide. Pretty much all tour pack/seat/sissy bar combos, just have a "flap" of leather in the lower back area (with the possible exception of those tiny sissy bars). Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone came up with a solution or a product to fill in the lower back area on tour packs to give more lower back support so I can shut her up.

Try a little pillow? Or a rolled-up towel? Piece of foam? When you find the right size/thickness/firmness that makes her happy have something custom made to your specification at an upholstery shop.

Just a thought. I've never done it.

Default Lower Back Support - Tour Pak

The only solution I've seen for passenger lower back support is on the new CVO Ultra's. They come stock from the factory with an adjustable lumbar support for the lower back on the passenger backrest attached to the tour-pak.

just roll a towel.

if a support of some sort was used to give back support, it should be mounted to the t/p mounting bracket, not the abs

make sure her feet are in a good position for her, the floor boards/pegs have a fair amount of adjustment up/down

They also have a foam rubber insert in the lower flap that offers lower back support in addition to the adjustable lumbar support. The insert is adjustable vertically as well. Short of buying such a backrest, if possible, you could glue something like a block of armaflex insulation to the backside of the lower flap. It would give support and form itself to the passenger's back. Just need to cut to fit.

FYI for anyone that doesn't know. Armaflex is just a brand name for black open cell foam rubber insulation. It can be found at any insulation dealer in sheet form. You'll have a ton of scrap but it'll still be much cheaper than going the HD route.
