I have a 2010 limited that has noise in the primary case area. I have taken it to the dealer and they find nothing out of the ordinary sounds. Riding it today and I notice that its a harmonic sound that increases or decreases with speed only, not RPM. at 45-50 mph I pull in the clutch and let the RPM come to idle and you can hear the harmonic noise in the primary and it doesnt matter what gear or RPM the engine is turning...I am thinking its the compensator and not sure if I should take it to different dealer, warranty runs out end of Feb. Looking for suggestions...
The OP's issue is speed-dependent, and it doesn't matter whether the clutch is in or out. Might be a wheel bearing (though he'd probably feel that too), more than likely it's a tire.

Agree totally, which is what I experienced and referenced in the thread, i.e. my issue was also speed dependent and seemed to be roughly in line with each rev of the wheel (not engine)
I will try new oil, dealer put on a new drive belt and they used their oil ( I run Ams). I will check out the tires although I only have 4K on them. I know noises travel but I would have bet money it was in the primary...thanks, I will investigate all you have suggested.

The sound I had was definetly not metal on metal which is why is suspected the belt. If it is metal on metal then I agree with you
I cant say its a metal on metal....it just sounds like thats where the noise is coming from....getting ready to investigate, will let you guys know what I find!
