I am looking to buy a road glide. There are a few in my area that I am interested in. Here is my question. Is there a link or a place in the forum ( I have used the search function) that will give me the differences in the goad glides from year to year?
I am looking at a 1999 and a 2002 right now but not sure of the basic differences. IE: frame, motor, ect.
If you can, stay with a 2002 or newer. There we're big upgrades in 2002 with the Delphi fuel injection system and improved swing arm. The 2002 also had better crank bearing and a forged crank. 2002 was a good year.

+1. If you can stay 2002 or newer. 2009 and newer most changes including a new frame.
Ok makes sence. I will be doing a Cali run 4th week in may and I will be taking the road glide if I get one. 3300 miles one way and looking to make sure I have a good stable bike.
An 09 isnt in the budget unless I sell a bike and thats not something I am willing to do at this point.
the 99 I was looking at has the following
8000 miles , lowered with progressive ias 440 shocks,VANCE &HINES pro pipe, SCREAMING EAGLE computer flash, SCREAMING EAGLE air filter ***. SE 203 cams,
The 02 I am not sure as I hadve only talked to my friend (its at a HD dealer) so not sure what mods if any it has.
both are around the same price.
I did register for that site just waiting to beable to post my introduction.
Are there any questions I should ask about the 99 or 02 (common problems) or things I should look for? I am not new to bikes just new to the FL.

I agree. The 2002 is a little better riding bike. Are they both FI?
the 99's had problems with the cam drive system, H-D offered a lifetime transferable warranty on that- ( you should be able to get details from a dealer if you provide the VIN).
the 99 era fuel injection can be a real problem- to the point where some guys end up having to convert to carb ( about $1000, unless you can do your self and get swap meet parts to piece together).
the 02 has the delphi injection, better.
price look ups at kbb.com, just look up the retail and trade in values of the bikes you are considering.
dealers are unlikely to be willing to work on those bikes due to age---- there is a trend towards orphaning older products. they cite unfamiliarity with parts/systems and too many owner modifications which complicate work
all touring models of the same year will be essentially the same but for the amount of fiberglass hanging on them ( for instance the road king and the road glide share all but fiberglass and a radio) and cosmetics such as silver motor/black motor, chrome here and there, badges
incremental changes happen year to year but he frame was largely unchanged from 1984 to 2008, suspension much the same, motor was EVo to 1998, twin cam 88 afterward ( often bored to 95") followed by the 96" and the 103".
