Default Led and security??

I put led bulbs in the the turn signals. When I turn the signal on it flashes 4 times at the normal rate, then increases to twice as fast as normal. Also, the security light on the dash comes on...I do not have the security option. Coincidence?? I did not use load equalizers...is that why??

Yep, the light is comming ON because the system detects your LED lights as "open" (too little current). If you check the codes you'll find "open" codes for your turn signals. Same way the lights flash at double rate to allert you that there is something wrong with the turn signals (it works the same way on cars, too).

The light is actually not just a Security Light but a MIL- Light (Malfunction Indication Light). It is used by the non-security and security modules. The difference is that on Secuirty Module it is used when Ignition is OFF as well to indicate "Armed" state.

You may option not to install any load equilizers if everything is working OK. The consequences are that when you have a real trouble code set for some other reason you'll no notice it since your MIL light will be always ON.

ahhh. Thankyou. I have no problem with the way they flash. Going to leave them as is for now. Was just concerned about the security light.

Kuryakyn makes a load equalizer and a alarm compatible load equalizer part # 21-1153 that will prevent your alarm light from staying on. I brought both when I installed my LED's but ended up not needing the alarm equalizer. I can sell u the alarm equalizer for $20.00. Never opened new $28.99.
