I just installed some led bulbs into my directionals, both front and rear. It's an equal load as it's the same bulbs all the way around. But for some reason my security system doesn't like them. When I hit the directional button, they blink normal for 3-4 blinks then they get very fast. And when I start the bike, the security key light is staying lit on the dash.
THis is normal when you add LEDs on all four corners. I do suggest the addition of the badlands Illuminator load equalizer. It's not the cheapest one...but the easiest to install ,creates ZERO heat and I think the safest. Let me know if ya need help...I'll be happy to talk ya through if if you need!
Load equalizers are required for LED's. The LED's don't pull the same amperage as standard bulbs. The effect is that your electrical system 'thinks' your light are not working. A load equalizer tricks your system into reading the correct amperage. Once you've installed an equalizer your faults will disappear.
The LEDs might have an equal load in all 4 corners but they are not equal to the load as incandescent bulbs that you replaced. The TSSM is looking for a very specific load and if it isn't there it's not happy — you need an equalizer.
I added some LED accent lights, plugged in to the Maxi-fuse connector. Now the security system idiot light glows all the time. The lights are not designed to flash, so I'm wondering if i still need a load equalizer to make the security system happy? Would it make a difference if I plugged the accent lights into another connector?
