I did the same but mounted the plug outlet on my crotch cooler (darn handy) - speaking of which -
Captain Itch has just come out with a line of controller mounts! I am using his center console mount. REALLY HANDY to have the ***** at your fingertips while riding!
Check him out - http://www.shop.captain-itch.com/The...Tank-Panel.htm
I've been monitoring that thread, The Captain is tinkering with a new model for the center of the tank for us 09-up guys.
So, the only advantage is you don't need two hands to plug in the power cord but you still have to deal with the controller wires...right? Captain Itch makes a unit for the controller as I have as well. By the way, I dyed mine black. I used mine this past weekend on a 300 mile ride and it worked fine AND it doesn't scratch the tank as some have feared. See my post; https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ue-solved.html

Another advantage is that you don't have the wires dangling that are hooked to the Battery. I had them coming out from my left Side Cover and Zip Tied to the Saddlebag Guard. It worked, but I like this much better.

Would you be willing to further explain your set up with the control ***** up front. It's exactly what I'm looking to do.
So.....what comes out of your jacket and where does it plug in. I apologize in advance, very tired and can't think straight. Was it tough to do? How did you route the wires, under the tank-did you have to remove the tank? For some reason that intimidates me? Guess cause I haven't done it before.
Here is a smaller version which is 3.25" wide with out the strap..Still trying to come up with something for the Ultra but that slot is very narrow..This will also hold a cell phone nicely..http://www.shop.captain-itch.com/The...Tank-Panel.htm
It looks to me that with the Gerbings permanent mount dual controller you would have two plug-ins to connect each time you get on the bike. Is this correct?? You'd think Gerbing would include an adapter that would combine the two leads to give a single plug.
