I mounted mine on the top part, small flat area behind the fuel tank. By eyeballing it, my thigh will hit the controller plug in connector where it stick straight out, especially when I'm walking the bike.
Also, since then, I mounted the rider back rest adjuster on the side of the heat shield.
Explain how you anchored the unit to the heat shield. Do you just drill a hole and insert the female end in. And, how do you make it so doesn't move in or out of position.
Thanks.

Gerbing makes a connector (Part # ACPM) or the whole kit that includes an extra coiled cord (Part # ACPMKT)
You drill a 5/16" hole and just pop the connector in and tighten down the nut. There is a Star Washer on the backside that you can't see, that keeps the Connector from coming loose.

I can see where it might hit your leg, I bought the Right-Angled Cords also though so it doesn't stick out too much.
The items mounted in the heat shield appear to be just the plug-in points. The controller ***** can be mounted elsewhere. I plan to do this soon. Where did you mount the controller *****? Thanks. Nice job.

Thanks, I don't have the hardwired Temp Controllers, just the Gerbing portable Controller.
I still have to deal with the wires for that, just not the wires hanging loose from under the seat like I used to have.

Mount the controller ***** on the dash as in this picture or in the inner fairing.
Just got the Gerbings Panel Mount Kits installed for the Heated Gear. Installed two of them so the Wife has a connection also.I really like these, lot's better than having extra wires dangling.
I did the same but mounted the plug outlet on my crotch cooler (darn handy) - speaking of which -
Captain Itch has just come out with a line of controller mounts! I am using his center console mount. REALLY HANDY to have the ***** at your fingertips while riding!
Check him out - http://www.shop.captain-itch.com/The...Tank-Panel.htm
