Default Progressive shocks worth it

I have a 2011 SG and my riding is about 50/50 solo and double. Thinking about upgrading to 13" 440 series progressive shocks. I'm not that impressed with the air shocks and am putting on monster ovals this winter and have heard they can drag with lowered suspension. Anybody using these? Thanks!

Last spring I was riding a lot of 2up on my 2003 Road King and used to bottom out once in a while, I installed progressive 430's and have been very happy with them. Great compression and rebound dampenning never bottomed out even on the lowest setting.

Yes they are worth it. I changed to 13" 440's last year. They are a vast improvement over stock. I have an 09 SG.

That is one of the issues we have is bottoming out here and there. Thats good to here they are a worthy upgrade.

I upgraded to the 940's a few weeks ago, very happy with the ride improvement. My wife said it rides like a new bike with both of us on it, no more bottoming out over bumps.

Hmmmm, I put the 13' 440s on my RKC and am having a hard time getting them set. the ride is terrrible. I am actually thinking about putting them up for trade for the stock 13 shocks. It seems it either bottoms out or tops out, cant figure it out. Wonder if I have something wrong with them?

I have 940series and the drop-ins and for the last year, I love the improvement over the stock shocks. I have noticeble steering control and once the rear shocks are set right you will enjoy the ride very much....

what is your weight and did you get hd or standard 440's? If you have them cranked down my guess is your topping out. I had 440's standard springs and early on I had the preload set too high and initially I did not realize they were topping out which gave a bad ride. When I backed off on the preload I had a great ride. That was on an 04 egc. I know have a 2011RGU and 940's. I think if I had to do it over again I would stick with 440's as the 940's are very stiff and even on the preload all the way backed off they still do not sag enough for my 200-210 lb weight.

6'5 265 lbs, have the HD units. I only have 1 turn on preload. tride cranking them down and your right it tops out real bad. Maybe I should of got the standard springs? I figured with my weight id be ok with HD.
