I took a four week solo riding vacation in 2006 which was a loop from Seattle to Atlanta and back. Total mileage was just under 9500 miles. The longest day was an unplanned 1080 miles. That was from Atlanta to Henryetta, OK with a lot of side trip activity along the way. That is what got me thinking about the Iron Butt Association. The next year I did five certified IBA rides. Otherwise it was a sightseeing trip so the average mileage on days I was riding was more like 400.
I kind of got motivated that year and I haven't sent anything into the IBA since. I've done a few few long days since then. I didn't document any of them for one reason or another. More recently work and back problems have kind of put endurance riding on hold. I guess I'm glad I did it then because I don't know if I will be able to do a lot of it in the future. Such is life I guess.
Longest ride for lunch was about 650 miles, Milwaukee to St. Paul and back.
Longest ride for a day was 1012, around Lake Michigan
Longest ride for a (5-day) weekend was ~2300, Milwaukee, to Front Royal, VA, down Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, rode the Tail of the Dragon and then back home.
When I was 18 I took my Kawasaki Z900 from Colchester in the UK to Nice in the South of France. Only stopped for fuel, cant remember how long it took but we were doing 100 mph plus where we could. Around 870 miles.
