Default 12v access point

I will be adding a 12v access point and tapping power from the fuse box to supply it. I don't remember from the last time I had the side cover off if there is an easy way to tap into the fuse box. Anyone with experience in this matter? I would like to have an idea before I get started tomorrow. 2008 FLHT. Thanks

Oh yeah... also installing the HD engine heat shields. Any tips on setting the well nuts? I heard it is a pain. Thanks

Wasn't sure what that was. I got the part from the dealer. Looks like it is what I need

As for the heat shields, I installed them a year or so ago on my '04 EG--same frame, space, etc. as your '08. It was easily the biggest pita project of the many, many mods I've made to my bike because the space is so limited between the frame and rear cylinder valve cover. My only suggestion is to create as much space as you can under the seat for your hands. I don't recall the details--probably a desire to forget the frustration of installing the heat shields.

Good luck with your projects.

Carl

PS: It occasionally helps to say what it is you are trying to accomplish--others may have experience that will help you.

in the port there are 4 holes one is switched on tax,one on ignition,on hot,one ground, use a 12 volt test light to figure with one u want, use a crimp on duetch connecter(about 10 cents) and plug it into the hole ,no need for a 20$ harness.

Thanks for the information. I already bought the harness so I will use it. This is a lot better than what I had in mind.
