I have an 05 Road King custom that is getting new paint now and I would like to have the lower fork legs done. How do the lower legs come off ?

Gotta pull the wheel and fender. Gotta take out the retaining rings on top of the seals. Gotta take out the 6mm bolt on the bottom and then pull the fork leg in a hammering action to unseat the seal.

Do yourself and your bike a favor and BUY the HD Touring Model Service Manual for 2005--it will be the best ~$45 you'll spend. 1/2 the "HELP" posts on this forum are posted by folks who screwed up simple jobs because they didn't have the service manual that tells how to do the job right. It's your bike and your $$$.

Good luck with your project.

Do not reuse old seals
there is a special tool used to replace seals
get the service manual and you can make the tool easily enough
ETC ETC ETC
