I am sure this may have been covered in the past, but I just had to ask you people something. Have you ever been cruising down the road (with or without other riders with you) and waved at opposing biker traffic time after time after time only to get a returned signal from only a few of them? I don't pick or choose who I wave to or wait to see what they are riding so I don't know what the lack of friendlyness is. I naturally give signal to all riders (keeping in mind I am on a straightway and not needing to perform a detrimental adjustment to my riding like turning or stopping, for crying out loud). I know I don't smile and wave constantly like a frickin' idiot, so what's the harm in a return signal? And you know, I have noticed that a lot of the time it is a Harley rider that cruises right on by with the typical bad a-- grimace on their face or that "f-you" look, or the "I'll pretend not to look at this guy. I think to myself "hey bud, it's only a wave and if you notice, I'm on an HD too, so get off your high horse". I tried figuring it out, but who knows, maybe people will be people no matter what genre you are in.....there's always those few.
Let's see if we can get all of the responses out of the way...
a. Why do you care?
b. Just ride.
c. Repost.
d. I wave at everyone.
e. I only wave at <fill in the blank>
f. Because they hate harleys.
g. Sportbikes are evil.
Seriously, not everyone thinks about waving the same way. Some wave at all bikes, some only wave at bikes like theirs, some don't wave at all, sometimes you miss it, sometimes you are shifting...whatever...I guess my answer is b and d (even scooters and bicycles if they wave first!)
I always try to acknowledge other riders on the road.Have done this for 35 years of road riding.I find the ones who don't waive are the same ones that will ride right past a rider who is broke down. Its seems that a great percentage of riders are just to full of themselves when they are on their motors.
