Default 777 Cam installed

Went with the 777 cam just in case I change the promise to myself to leave the top end alone on the new Ultra Limited. I am sensitive to ping, had two built bikes in the past 4 years a 07 RKC 103 with HQ 500 cams, never could get the ping out, local tuners suck here in south Fla. Had the HQ 107 on my 09 Ultra, ping machine til I found a good tuner in Dallas, put 50k miles on bike and traded for this 12 Ultra Ltd, that bike kicked *** once it got it tuned in. So I planned just AC , 2-1 Pipe (Pro Pipe HO this time), and cam. I seen the dyno numbers from FM on a stock 103 with the 777, 113+ TQ 100 HP, as I am a TQ fan that seemed good enough for me, plus I have the option of the FM BB kit with heads later if I get the itch. Had cam installed yesterday by local Indy, tuned last night and this morning with TTS, I am happy with the butt dyno results, I know I have some timing fine tuning to do so I only expect it to get better when I get over to Dallas to get a proper tune. I would recommend this cam to you 103 stockers. I have had Used the following cams to compare, Andrews 54, HQ 500, HQ 575, S&S 570, would rate this right where the HQ 575was so far , it might turn out better after Dyno time.

Only complaint right now is there is a thumping sound coming from the throttle body but I am thinking this is from not dialing in the timing perfectly with a Dyno, it disappears when I go above 2 k rpm. I also notice my oil pressure does not go up to 36 psi at idle on cold start like it did with stock cams, it hits 32 now on cold starts and stays there while riding, this is the same as my 09 Ultra with the HQ 107, wonder if the cam has something to do with oil pressure?

I don't know, this could be normal with that cam. However, there is always a chance that your indy did not get the oil pump sealed properly and you might be losing some oil into the cam chest. That's probably not it, but it's possible. Did the indy use new O-ring seals on the pulp? Hope this is not it cause if it is, you gotta go back into the cam chest to fix the problem.

I noticed you used a set of s&s 570's in the past, was wondering how they performed as I may go that route.

I mainly went with the S&S Easy Start because I was worried about the compression effect on the starter, they were good cams but they were more mid range peak and I like my TQ early. The easy start function is great, every cam should have it. I have the 570 on ebay right now. I ended up with the FM 107 bb with the 54 cam in that bike and am very happy with it.

Oil Pressure, After the dealer completed my fisrt service I lost a little oil pressure and it has been staying in the same ranges since doing several oil changes my self. I figured they had a thicker break in oil if they use that or the synthetic is just a little thinner. I still have good oil pressure but not high like when it was new.

Seems to be recovering after I did some tuning runs with the tts, wonder what the relationship is between tuning and oil pressure. Strange.
