I have an encoded note app on my phone and I keep the numbers in there.

I took a picture of the card in the manual. That way it's always in my phone. Made the mistake of starting my bike and driving off leaving the FOB behind BEFORE I realized I could start the bike with the pin.......make for a long and bad day waiting for the OL to bring me a FOB halfway across town.

So lets say you have your PIN set. And then some day the battery in the fob dies. How do you use the pin? Through the numbers in the radio? Or the same way you enter the numbers for the PIN?

almost the same. first, if you have your fob with you, take it out of your pocket. if it has enough juice to send any kind of signal, it will mess with you.

turn your ignition on-off-on-off-on

press both turn signal switches at the same time. if you did it right, you should have a blinking display in your odometer.

cycle through the numbers with the left switch, enter with the right. once you enter the last digit, your alarm will chirp once (if you have siren) and you can start your bike.

its good to know this sequence. not only if your fob battery dies, or you forget your fob, or you lose your fob, but also if you park in an area that has some rf interference, you can use the code to start. its a lot easier to push a few buttons than it is to push a 900 lb bike around the parking lot trying to find an area without interference.

All you need to do is turn on the ignition and quickly hit both turn signal switches. Then input your pin. No need to turn the ignition on off on off on.
