My Dad and I set the pin on his Limited and the book makes it sound harder than it really is.
He keeps the card with his pin number and directions in his wallet.

I have an 06 but I have to push the button on my fob to activate my alarm. Can I change my pin as well?

Yes, but it is different for the button fobs. I do not have the instructions with me at work. Will post when I get home.

Try this with the push button types:
1. Select 5 digit code ( each digit being a 1 thru 9) and record it on the wallet card in the owners manual.

2. With an assigned FOB present, turn IGN key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON

3. Press Left turn signal switch 2 times.

4. Press button on fob twice
Current PIN will appear in the odometer. The first digit will be flashing.

5. Enter first digit of the new PIN by pressing left turn signal until the desired number appears.
Press button on fob twice to enter number.

6. Enter second digit of the new PIN by pressing left turn signal until the desired number appears.
Press button on fob twice to enter number.

7. Enter third digit of the new PIN by pressing left turn signal until the desired number appears.
Press button on fob twice to enter number.

8. Enter forth digit of the new PIN by pressing left turn signal until the desired number appears.
Press button on fob twice to enter number.

9. Enter fifth digit of the new PIN by pressing left turn signal until the desired number appears.
Press button on fob twice to enter number.

Turning the ignition to OFF stores the new security PIN.

I read the owners manual on this subject just the other day and the more I read the more "confused" I got. Now all of a sudden the topic pops up on here and with one excellent description on how to do it, I'm a pro!! LOL I just went out in the garage and tried it....it worked like a charm and my peace of mind has been restored. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread!!

The pin is easy enough once you have done it. I do carry several spare batteries for the fob in my windshield bag. I also have a spare fob without the battery installed in my shaving kit. This is just incase I actually lose it or more likely, jump into a river with it still on me.

My fob battery went dead while in Montana. Worked one day, not the next morning. Popped old battery out, installed new one, on the road in 5 minutes. (Took me 4 minutes to find spare batteries in the bottom of windshield bag.
