Riding home yesterday on the interstate from getting a new front tire at 70 mph with the cruise on and all of the sudden the bikes starts missing and sputtering for like 5 seconds and then resumes running normally. I have 18,500 miles on it and this is the first time any thing like this has occured. Is this something I should be concerned about or not and what could have caused it?
I have stage I, PCV, stock head pipe and SE slip-ons. No error codes came up.
Check battery connections. Same thing happened to me on my Wide Glide while doing 100mph. Thought something blew up in the motor but it turned out to be a lose ground cable.
PS This was done on a German Autobahn and completely legal.
I had a 98 DWG some years back do that at hiway speeds and it turned out to be a defective ECM or the equivalent for that year ( they called it the brain, same thing).
Yeah, my first thought was that something was blocking the airflow. I have an open airfilter and had my chaps on and feet on the highway pegs. I'll keep and eye on things. Going out for a long ride tomorrow and hopefully it was just some water or crap filtering through. I always use 91 or higher octane fuel.
