Nice choice for a new ride!! Yes, changing the head pipes and doing a complete stage 1 makes a huge difference with the heat. I had a '10 Ultra with the 96" engine which I traded for the '11 with the 103" engine. The 96 remained stock and I went thru the "break-in" period experiencing a lot of heat on the legs. Wasn't bad after a few thousand miles but until then it was downright uncomfortable. The '11 was equipped with a stage 1 right off the showroom floor and I never experienced the extreme heat associated with my '10. I went with a SE high flo element to fit the stock breather, a PC-V fuel management system, V&H power duals for header pipes and finished off with V&H monster ovals.
I traded in my 2005 Ultra for a 2012 Ultra Classic Limited. Ember red sunglow/Merlot sunglow. I've been through a few used bikes but this is my first NEW one.
WOW what a difference. The new frame rides smooth. Going from a 88 to a 103 is pretty nice too.
Only a few hours old and I took care of that riding in the rain thing already..
Congrads on your new bike. It's a good riding bike for sure. I agree with the guys here, loose the cat headers, you'll be glad you did. Where is grays creek? Im from NC but not sure where that is. Shoot us some pictures of that beast when you get time.
I went from a 92 FXR to the 2012 Limited. What a difference. Hope you kept an extra 5K handy for upgrades. Stage 1, 4" Jackpots, cam, 500W J&M speakers and amp, seat mods and heaters from MCC.
Sweet! I'm soon going from an '02RK 88" to a '12SG 103". I noticed a much tighter ride, but didn't have enough saddle time / road to really check out the 103". Soon enough. Soon enough. Enjoy . . .
Pm me when you get ready to do the deal on a 12...I would like to do a fly in and ride home on that 02 King...that is if we can work a deal...
Congrats on the new bike....even though you posted after midnite you're probably already up looking at it again....I know I would be
Yeah... I had to look it over this morning . I took it out this afternoon and looked at it for the first time in the sun. WOW... the merlot sunglow has a LOT of flake in it. I didn't know it had any flake in it, I never saw that color in the sun before.
I tried taking some pics but wasn't able to get the flake to pop right, pics just look dark red.
