Thanks for the heads up msocko, but, so far so good. I am gentle with the cover on the tour pak, and ****ed up the old tether by trying to re route it out of the way of closing on itself. I always walk it back by hand and don't allow gravity to do it all by itself.
Time will tell.....I do know the hinges were an upgrade, and pretty simple to drill and instal.
hinges are definately worth the upgrade. The tether that comes stock is WAY stronger that that p.o.s. retractable tether and if you do as the above link to the post states, simply make one twist on the cable and screw it down and you will never have to walk it by hand and will always fold into the tourpak.

I tried putting a loop in the oem cable, and although not cross threaded, the little pos screw that holds the loom down broke. I see they had a patch of loc tite on it, and she snapped bigger that **** under not much of a load.. So I either needed the oem replacement or something different, so opted for the retractable. As said, I don't let gravity open the lid for me, so time will tell.

I hear ya man.. i don't let mine "flop" open either.. always been the kinda guy to take care of your stuff and it will take care of you. I only made the comment about it being a p.o.s. based on my 2 minutes of experience with it then pulled it off.
my wife let mine flop open 1 time.. Let me put emphasis on 1 and I promise you she'll never do it again..

I agree the hinges are an upgrade, their sharp looking and seem a heck of a lot more durable than the stock POS's.
