LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK FROM ANYONE RUNNING THIS SYSTEM, TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN THIS AND GARMIN ZUMO I KNOW THERE IS NO MAP BUT, BEING ABLE TO HEAR TURN BY TURN COMPARED TO THE ZUMO IS MY CONCERN! ALL RESPONSE IS WELCOME THANKS!
My Ultra has the factory GPS unit installed in it. It gives basic turn by turn directions heard through the bikes audio system. Works well. I also have attached to the bike, Garmins model #2820 mounted to the left side of the handlebars. It has turn by turn voice directions in addition to coloured maps and routes displayed. Vibrates heavily at idle and not as bad when cruising. Would like to mount an additional support bracket to alleviate the vibrations altogether. Garmin products are pretty good. this is my second unit I have used on my various bikes. If you are a gadget guy like me....the more the better.
I just got the Garmin Road Tech Conquest as a gift from my wife. She also purchased the fairing mount instead of the handle bar mount. I have zero vibration with this mounting system.
I've got the Zumo mounted on my Sporty. Vibration is only a "problem" at just above idle, it goes away and works great. Mount is real solid and even has a screw to "lock" it down. I exchanged the arm tightener with a Locking ****, for a little more security for the mount.
I have the GXM 30 antenna also, but haven't mounted it on the Sporty. Will wait till i get my Ultra. If i pipe it thru the Aux, then i won't have a problem hearing music, my MP3's or the audio directions, plus i gain traffic nav alerts.
