I think it's time for a navigation system. Tired of using maps but have no way of mounting my gps. I have a tom tom for my car. Should I use an older system incase it gets dammaged? Do they make a water proof unit? How did you mount yours?
When needed, I simply use my android phone and telenav or google nav. I usually have my earbuds in to act as earplugs with low music anyway. Turn by turn directions simply break into the music.
I'm using a Tom-Tom in a case that attaches to the handlebars. The case is waterproof and has a transparent plastic window in front,it also comes with different thickness neoprene spacers to accept different types of nav units.
I got the Zumo 660 recently and like it. I used the Zumo 550 for years prior and also liked it but the 660 is better. I ride Europe so a GPS is mandatory when you don't speak the language. lol
Garmin 255WT with a Ram mount. Even with all the vibration of my SG, the 255 has held up just fine. It fits under my re-curve windshield and has never gotten wet when riding in the rain. If it does break, it's only $130 to replace it. That's a WHOLE lot better that $650 for a Zumo. Regardless of what you get, be sure to update it often. I ride with a guy who has a Zumo and the thing is slow as hell (especially when recalculating a route). He's had it for years and has never updated so, that may have something to do with it.
