Ever just cruisin' down a wide open stretch of 2 lane, when you spot a car in the distance strangely veering over the center line? Seems it's aimin' right at ya, you prepare for possible evasive action and suddenly the car gets straight in it's lane again. Whats the deal...anyone else notice it? Could it be that the driver's vision gets locked in on your bike in the distance, pulling the car into a brief head-on collision course, before the driver snaps out of it?
i see plenty of that whether i'm in the cage or riding. pretty scary ****. seems like it's got worse since cellphones became popular. some clowns just have too short of an attention span.
Hell everybody around here drives down the center of country roads. It's a miracle we don't have any head ons, but everybody swerves over when they meet someone. The edge of the road is sometimes filled with mailbox doors, potholes, patches, dogs, chickens, guineas, garbage, and even logs. Some people either don't give a **** or are too dumb to get their **** away from the road.
In September I came as close to the BIG SPLAT as I have in 34 years of riding when a dually pickup truck crossed completely over into my lane on a curvy two lane highway. He snapped it back over at the last possible second. Damn near lost control as he woke up from whatever he was doing; cell phone, looking at a girlie mag, pulling his pud, or all three at once for all I know. My buddy following behind was just looking for a place to dodge the flying debris.
I've been there, too. Not fun seeing your buddy bracketted by two headlights that swerve back into their lane at the last second. I'm seriously thinking of investing in foglights for my engine guard just so I look like a freakin' Christmas tree coming down the road.
I am on the road everyday and it is certainly a problem, just way too many distractions, and in too much of a hurry. It is sad how short peoples fuses are getting, young and old alike.Life is just too short.
