my concern from the start was that the woofer/midrange speaker 6.5 would be voice matched to the tweeter. I was happy to find that you can take the tweeter bar apart and the focal tweeter fits perfectly. I used the focal access 165. the sound is very good all thing being considered. I am also using an alpine headunit that has the ability to change the crossover points for the highs and lows. I used the focal grills too. tin snips and a marker. Do not try to remove the grill that is on the tweeter. it will fit fine behind the tweeter bar grill.

 

1. Are you using the Focal Access 165 CA1 or the 165 A1 component speakers?
2. What adapter rings are you using for the speakers?
3. Are you saying the Focal tweeters fit inside the HT tweeter pod with the Focal
grills still on them and still left the HT grill on the tweeter pod?
4. What did you cut with the tin snips?

man .. I need to make decsion on speaks and move on ... So, why not use the Focal 165 CA1 (coaxial) with the directional tweeter instead of the 165 A-1 with the component tweeter installed in HT pod? It appears the two 165 use the same woofer and tweeter. Is it really that much better having the pod? I'd like to keep my inner fairing as clean as possible.

 

The focal 165 ca1 speakers, don't look like coaxial. Is there more than one options with them?

The tweeter pod does a great job of keeping it clean IMO. It also moves them from the stock location so that the sound is directed better towards you to hear better. I have found that the brake and clutch get in the way of the highs

 

I think there is a choice, look at these, they are not coaxial.
