Default Stereo question

Ok, this may be a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. I just bought a Sony DSX-S100 stereo and I am going to install it in my '03 standard. I am planning on running a fused wire to my battery for the constant power, a ground to the frame and tap into the cigarette lighter for the switched power.
My question is in regards to the speakers. On the radio there is wires enough for four speakers yet I only have two. Do I connect the front and rear speaker wires together and connect them to the two speakers?
Like I said, maybe its a dumb question but I had to ask.
Thanks for any information.

No, no, no!! Dont do that!!
You could fry the amp in your radio very quickly....
Just pick one set of pairs--either both fronts, or both rears, and use them. The ideal would be to use the front pair, and leave the rear for future use.

Wrap the pair you dont use in electrical tape, or heat shrink the ends, so they dont accidentally touch something, and secure them out of the way.

Power, ground and remote sound fine. Not sure what year it started but there is a really easy to use remote or switched lead in the headlight wiring harness too. It is orange and has a cap on it in most cases. Lighter works the same, but might save a step for ya. Good luck and ask all the questions you have, we as a group have assed up lots of stuff and learned our lessons, and oddly enough are happy to share them in most cases...

Amen to that, brother...

What you're planning is fine, although a little bit overkill unless you're planning to install more stuff later.
Use a test light, and find the power wire that ran the stock radio. Splice into that wire for power. There is already a 15amp fuse on that line in your fuse box.
Its plenty big for powering that radio, no need to run direct to the battery for a headunit alone.
There is a ground screw on the tree under the radio mount, that is fine to tie into, if you feel the need to go that route. Otherwise, use the factory radio ground.
The cig. lighter power wire is fine for a tap, but the accessory wire on the headlight harness already has a female spade plug crimped onto it. Just pull the red or orange cover off of it, crimp a male spade onto your remote wire and just plug it in, as Kris noted above.

This is a very simple install, but can be nerve racking if you havent done them before.....just ask.
Theres lots of knowledge on this site.
