Default Speaker wiring question??

When you install a radio on a harley, and have 2 speakers to be mounted to the handlebar area, how do you wire the speakers, preferably? Do you only use the front speaker wires off the radio, the fronts to one and rears to the other, the lefts to one and the rights to the other, or just the rears?

If they are the std color codes you'll have a pair of green, purple, white, & gray wires. One of each would be the negative and it'll have a black stripe.
Usually folks just use the front sets (white-left & gray-right) and tape off the other ones. Unless the instructions say the amps can be bridged and shows you how, do NOT put the front & rear pairs on the same speaker, it'll kill the radio.

Using just the fronts made the most sense. Thanks for the quick reply.

You're welcome. I forgot to mention, there's no difference/advantage on most radios in using the front sets over the rears, but in general practice it usually best to use the fronts. This is because on head units with internally bridgeable amplifier chipsets you can select between 2 or 4 speaker use. If you select 2 speaker mode on those it'll be the front set that's enabled so it's just a good habit to use the front sets regardless.
