Question speaker question

ok, so my 02 has a factory 8 ohm set up. I have a pair of 4 ohm speakers. so as to not fry my radio i neeed to wire these in "series", but don't i lose "stereo" by doing that if i use only one chanel to do this? or is there another way of doing this to keep my left and right correct? this has been bugging the hell out of me. I done some research and it shows to wire the speakers using one chanel.

That doesn't sound correct. You should still wire them up using BOTH Left and Right channels.

BP, not really sure I understand the wiring dilemma you're having. Why not just take the wires from the 8 ohm and hook them to the 4 ohm? The only difference you're going to have is the 4 ohm will sound much better. There should be a place on the 4's to hook your 2 wires to just like on the 8's. No prob.

the speakers are already hooked up, was when i bought the bike, the problem is that after listening to the radio after about 30 mins the speakers start "cutting" out, seems like after it gets "hot". now this morning it was pretty cool and i had no issues, but when the weather gets warm the speakers start acting crazy driving me nuts. i don't want to spend the $'s on a new system yet. i've heard people say if you don't have the impedence right you can fry your radio or amp....am i right? the speakers are 4 ohms each and the stereo is supposedly rated 8 ohms. just affraid i might be "overheating" things,,,,lol hell i have no clue.

your speakers cutting out may be a wiring issue. check all connections. may also be a loose wire in thr head unit itself. radiosound in louisville ky does all the refurbs on the 05 and older radios

From everything I have read on here, the RadioSound radios are 8 ohm, and the HK's are 2 ohm. Never ever heard 4 ohm until today.

How about this, I bought the 8 ohm speakers for my 03 from J&M and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Hope this helps.
