Default Jam nuts for SE adjustable push rods ???

I read some where that there is a guy that sells after market nuts for about 5 bucks a piece. Not sure if it was here but this is where I get most of my info. I will be putting in a cam soon and would like to get the hardened nuts while everything is a part. Has anyone heard of this guy ? Thanks ...

The guy to contact is Ron Head Roadking2000@charter.net
Got my upgraded nuts for the SE tapered from him for $20.00.
Well worth the piece of mind. Great guy to deal with.

I would think hardened would = brittle. I use SE adjustables all the time and never had a problem. Dont get caught up in the Internet hype too much.

I don't remember where, but someone has said that all the SE pushrods that have the manufacturing date around 2011, have a better, thicker lock nuts, and mine (original) are appeared robust enough that I don't think they will break. 1000 miles after the installation, and still running smoothly.

You are lucky; maybe you got the upgraded hardware. I have lost two pushrods to broken nuts; the last time the nut bounced around on top of the lifter, dislodged the lifter retainer and the oil pump swallowed it; instant loss of oil pressure. So, it's not hype; I know several others that had similar results with the early sets.

I still use the pushrods but I use the machined G8 nuts that Poorboy sells.

No judgement on anyone else, installed my SE tapered adjustable pushrods 2 years ago and zero problems.

It happens I'm sure, I just think its magnified on the Internet and made out to be a bigger problem than it really is. I think a lot of times they are over tightened. I've seen one break during an installation and it was because the guy was really cranking down on it to tighten the jam nut which is totally unnecessary.

I just installed a set of SE push rods in my friends 06 FLHX last weekend...I cant imagine how much TQ you would have to put on them to break a nut....however I'll bet its a whole lot. ..... I see no problem with them. That said, please no one tell my friend, as he worries more than a preacher in a strip club.
