I'll be installing my new TH 2-1 in the next few days. Don't expect to see any bluing. However, mine are black.
The TH black coating is not the best quality. Did you also get the heat shields? I had a black one on my 05RG without heat shields and it started to peal after a year or so. Had to have it recoated. Still loved it though..;-)
Well boys I think i'm going with the Drago's 2-1. As long as I can get the 4" muffler on a 04 RK, It will be a done deal. I love the thunder header sound but to many issues. Plus the Drago's pipe is cheaper.

I ordered it without the heat shields but they were included in the box from TH at no extra charge (so far).
Sorry it took so long to reply, been away from the house. Here's my LSR 2-1, I currently have it torn down for paint and powder coat.
Part of why I'm so sour about the company is this. I got a lousy ceramic job and it started turning to this a month after having them on. The company said they would replace it...4 months ago. 3 weeks ago it was "sitting there in the office waiting to be shipped." The make a product that performs incredibly, but totally suck at life otherwise.
This is how it looked the day I got it on May 3rd.
Griping aside, it performs great and sounds great.
I've had my Thunderheader for 7 or 8 years. The ht/shields do the job.
The chrome on them is still excellent. The chrome on the cone is still over-all pretty good cond. You can see in the pic, about a 1/4" of blueing or dis-coloration at the end of the shield. That showed up a couple years ago. Probl from the heat that the shields themselves hold in. It has the usual exh residue at the cone. It still comes off w/fine steel wool. I don't think show chrome fit & finish is part of the TH thing. I like the looks on most any model.
Totally happy with this pipe. I'm mostly stock. 203's and a re-jet.
Runs good, for what it is.
Installed my new Thunderheader 2-1 yesterday and just came back from a 200 mile run. Runs and sounds great. Sound is not as loud as I expected except when I pour it on with WOT. Regular running it does not sound any louder than my SE slip-ons that it replaced.
I had a Stage 1 download, SE muffs with stock head pipes, and a SEAC. I changed the exhaust and nothing else and it runs like a champ. Seat of the pants dyno tells me it is quicker accelerating than the prior setup. I did not check top speed but it ran right up to 100mph with no problem.
