I have the corbin classic solo with backrest, and a motherwell luggage rack. Looking for ideas for extra storage for overnight trips. I would like to mount the bag/pack onto the rack and could use the backrest for additional ties/security. My concern, also, is going too "wide" and having parts of it hanging over and 'scuffing' my leather saddle bags. What has worked for you?
You might try: Bar & Shield Collapsible Duffle 99468-06V
For $20 it's the best bargain I've found from H-D. Depending on how it's packed and bungied down, it fits length-ways or cross-ways on my RK's solo rack. It holds a few days clothes, is close to water-proof (very little leakage in heavy downpours) plus it packs into itself and stows in a saddlebag.
The older 97727-05V colapsible duffle with gray logos is constructed the same but is somewhat larger. Mounted cross-ways & not packed tight-full, it can droop to the saddle bags.
With either of thes bags, I've packed & bungied one on a solo rack so it it was a backrest for longer trips. I typically have have one or the other stowed in case of impulse buys while riding around town.
Bill, I have a Kuryakyn GranTour pack. It's great quality and holds a pretty good
amount of stuff. You can mount in on your passenger seat of on a luggage rack.
