Default Good luggage rack?

We are planning some further ride this year and needed some extra storage besides the bags.. I just got a bag that's pretty damn big so I need to make it more stable.. I've seen a few that advertise only holding 10lbs.. The bag itself is like 4.. Any heavier duty options available

10 lbs is light, I have had bags on mine weighting at least 30 lbs. Like anything else, the more wt you have on the bike will effect handling/ braking. Care should be used.

Good luck on your trip, JIM

They all say 10 pounds. I loaded my dekker bag on top my tour pack rack with 2 weeks of stuff and rode 5k miles without issue. Seen some people with more on theirs. Here is mine in the middle of Wyoming. +++++ I don't open the tour pack with the bag on top +++++

do you have a tourpak?

if so, the t/p rack is pretty good for light stuff- I use a sac bag with down sleeping bag and a jacket on it.
Gotta be careful not to stress the hinges if you have to get into the T/P

if no TP, I've seen full on duffle bags laid across the back of the bike

are you going solo or 2 up?

my Tbag sits on the pass seat and is a good backrest.

i had racks on the evo saddlebags and tied my tent on one side.

when I was packing, I did it with teh saddlabsg off and weighed each one, swapping stuff until they were both the same weight. I also worked to get the weight down low

old pic- I know it's alot of stuff I was gone for a month and camping- 100ş to 40ş

I wouldn't worry to much about it. strap stuff down good and don't open the tour pac with anything mounted to it. You should be fine.

I've been wondering the same thing. I looked on the HD site and they are all rated at 10lbs. My travel luggage weighs that when it's empty. I'm guessing that number is BS for liability reasons. I travelled with a Motherwell rack that seemed less sturdy than most and it handled a good 40+ lbs for 3500 miles.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at two other racks that were a little more stylish. I wonder what the real difference in load capacity is between this and the stealth rack. I can't see the stealth rack bending out of shape with a few extra pounds sitting on it.

Here's a pic of my luggage. Not light by any means.

Really, do not worry about it. The lawyers require them to put something on there as a warning label.
