FYI, in 2011 or 2012, The Mothership changed the service interval for the filter to 100,000 miles. It's the same part number for the filter, so there's apparently no need to change it at 25k. FWIW, I think it's worth doing at 50k, especially if you let your bike sit for months at a time over the winter.

Regardless, it's a cheap and easy job, so there's certainly no harm done doing it every 25k.

I dont agree with 100k mile service. Heres a picture of my filter after 25k miles. You can see the fine dirt on the paper towel as well

Fuel's dirty, and it'll discolor that white filter media as soon as it touches it. Harley makes money changing those filters (and selling them to DIY-ers). I doubt they'd hurt their revenue stream by extending the service interval unnecessarily.

I agree fuel is dirty.... Its still cheaper to replace the filter @ 25k then having a possible tow bill and the aggravation of being broken down.

No argument there, I just don't believe it'll ever be an issue at 25k.

Wow thats at 25k! 100k interval is BS then...sounds like another service call hunt on behalf of the MoCo why else would you recomend 100k when it looks like that at 25k?

If you talk to a trucker that hauls fuel you would understand why its dirty...thats why they have to rip the tanks up every few years that stores them. It picks up a lot of dirt from the ground especially in climates like lower Arizona.

Flip flopping on whether to do this now or not....at 24K miles. Still time before riding begins in earnest........

I don't agree either, my old filter looked
very similar to this pic also. I am very glad
I went ahead and changed it as I almost waited.
Peace of mind is worth it for sure.
