Alright, I'll keep this tread alive. On my 2008 Ultra, even with it set at 6500 with my FP3, in the first couple gears, it seemed to hit a wall pretty quickly. I don't run continuously high rpms but, I like to start fast alot of times and don't like hitting the limiter. I set my limit at 7K just for the reason to allow my acceleration from being impeded. Just as was mentioned somewhere in the vastly long thread, for occasional reasons to need to quickly move, this seems to have done the trick. I also put my throttle progressivity to Race 1:1.
I ran a Stage I 107", and every time I got close to 4000 RPM i felt the strongest urge to shift up, even when there was no more gear to go to.
The engine just seems to run out of steam at that point. I may have hit the rev limiter once or twice, when I was being a hooligan.
Generally I shifted when the engine was turning between 2000 and 2500 RPM. With all the torque down low, it seemed like that's where the engine was the happiest.
Looking forward to see how I'll ride the Stage III 128". Since there's plenty of torque until 4500~5000 RPM, I may automatically be running the revs higher.

Jeeze, I'm usually cruising at 3,000rpms....my tach is never below 2,500rpms.
Yea I don't like to cruise less than 2500 rpms. I'm usually around 3K. I don't necessarily ride hard but I sure like the bike to respond when I want it too.
With my Torque cam on my M8, it doesn’t petervoutvas early. So, now when I want to get on it, I’ll run to 5,000 .,.but never intentionally bounced off the rev limiter.
My rig runs a Modified tune for Stock setup and limiter is raised to 6,200 RPMs. Main reason for raising limiter is the sidecar. There are times you may want to extend a gear a bit and delay a shift. These M8 107's run pretty darn good. Even with the weight of the sidecar it will get up and go. Having the option of extending a gear without shift gives you options in curves. Power on power off plays heavy in riding a sidecar aggressive. yes I have bumped it a few times
Most of the time it runs between 2100 and 3100 Rpms. I know some will scream 2100 is to low. But it will cruise at 2100 in 6th if traffic requires all day long whit no ill effects.
Other than the map the bike is as it came new. Stock 107.

I was riding with a group of guys last weekend. While making a stop for lunch, one of the dudes asked about my bike and the PCIII. Told him the bike ran great, and that I especially loved the rev limiter bump to 6,200 rpms. At that point I received a several blank stares and puzzled looks. It seems none of them ever tag their rev limiter … even with the stock setting.
Is it just me or does that sound odd to you?
Hell, I bang the limiter in my car almost every time I drive it.
FYI – With the higher PCIII setting I no longer reach the limit.
It's yours, bang (a most appropriate term I think) away. They make new ones almost every day and it's sure good for the economy.
