Default Do You Hit Your Rev Limiter?

I was riding with a group of guys last weekend. While making a stop for lunch, one of the dudes asked about my bike and the PCIII. Told him the bike ran great, and that I especially loved the rev limiter bump to 6,200 rpms. At that point I received a several blank stares and puzzled looks. It seems none of them ever tag their rev limiter … even with the stock setting.

Is it just me or does that sound odd to you?

Hell, I bang the limiter in my car almost every time I drive it.

FYI – With the higher PCIII setting I no longer reach the limit.

most of the vehicles i have ever owned, the rev limiter involved parts flying out of the engine.. i try to keep the rpms down.

I hit it once. My daughters boyfriend has a Street Glide with V&H power duals and no baffles. To keep from hurting my ears, I have to beat him away from a traffic light because he always wants to race (even though he loses all the time. He has an 88" with a PCIII and still can't beat my stock 96"). Anyway, one time I wasn't paying attention and he beat my reaction time. My mistake by trying to run anyway. Should have just sat still for a minute and let him go. Anyway, because I couldn't hear my bike at all, I hit the limiter pretty hard in second gear. Couldn't even tell by the sound, only by the way the bike reacted.

seeing how as how torque is dropping off at higher rpms, it's time to up shift.

the V twin motor will not reliably rev over 6000 rpms for long.

it's a matter of geometry, and again shows the superiority of an overhead cam design

I have never seen the point in hitting the rev limiter, there is no power there anyway. Its ideal to shift at peak torque rpm

I have never gotten close to hitting the rev limiter. I can't afford to ride a hand grenade. I shift at 3000 to 3500. I’m not racing anyone.

I get there at the same time as everyone else.

I friend of mine hits the rev limiter every time he test rides a bike in Daytona at the demo rides.
